Samuel Davis Williams, 78, of Clover, died Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born in Halifax County on February 19, 1945, son of the late Samuel Isaac Williams and the late Ruby Francisco Williams. He was married to Linda Pentecost Williams, who survives.
Sammy was extremely hard-working, devoting many years to the grocery business, managing Food Lion in Roxboro, NC, and later opening, and managing Food Lion in Halifax Square. After retiring from the grocery business, he owned and operated the County Mart in Alton and then Old 26 in Saxe, VA. He had a passion for farming. In his later years, he enjoyed goat farming with his nephew, Anthony Williams. Sammy was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Linda Pentecost Williams of the home; Children, Scott Williams, Staci Epps, and Brent (Sue Ann) Pentecost; brother, Frank Warren Williams, of Greensboro, NC; numerous grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Larry Williams of Clover, and Mark Anthony Williams of Scottsburg; his father-in-law, G.W. McDowell, and mother-in-law, Ora McDowell.

Honoring Sammy’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
