Shirley Henderson Elliott

Shirley Henderson Elliott passed to her heavenly home at the age of 86 on December 25, 2024. She was born in Halifax County on April 26, 1939, to the late David Lawson Henderson and the late Mary Louise P. Henderson of Vernon Hill, VA. She was married 70 years to Chester Lafell Elliott who survives.

Shirley was lifelong church member and currently of Fork Baptist Church in Scottsburg. Shirley was devoted to being in Church on Sundays as well as assisting with all the activities. She always loved hearing the children sing, and she thought that was a blessing.  Shirley was a loving mother and wife; devoted homemaker and she dearly loved all of her family and friends. She was an avid card sender for all occasions, especially to the sick whom she would send cards to weekly until they were well. She had the ability to grow flowers of any kind which flourished annually. In her early years she enjoyed sewing and knitting. She thoroughly enjoyed her entire career as office manager and bookkeeper for the family businesses until her passing.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Chester Lafell Elliott, and her daughter Scottie Elizabeth Elliott. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Henderson Morgan of Bristol, VA and Margaret  Henderson Elliott of Halifax, her niece Alice Elliott Bond of Durham, NC and nephew David K. Elliott of Halifax. She is also survived by a special family friend like a son for many years, Sergio Regalado, who has always called her mama. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Halifax Memorial Gardens, South Boston, with the Rev. Ken Warfield officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
