Virginia “Jill” Stillman Hiner passed away on June 4, hand-in-hand with her beloved husband and son. She was 79 years old.
Jill was born in Danville, the daughter of the late John Hammond Stillman and Charlotte “Tee” Stillman. She graduated from Halifax County High School in 1962, and later Pan American Business School in Richmond. Jill built her career at AON Consulting in Richmond, before retiring as an officer in 2006 and returning to Oak Circle, her ancestral home in Sutherlin. There, she took pride in homemaking and entertaining her large family, always finding joy in the beauty of the Virginia countryside, from the snow white hills of Winter to the explosion of pink each Spring on the crate myrtles in her prized English garden. In addition to reading and cooking, Jill was a lover of all animals, none more than her beloved dog Dexter.
Jill is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lucian “Butch” W. Hiner of Sutherlin, and son Mark W. Hiner who resides in New York City. Her surviving siblings include Jack & Judy Stillman of Newnan, GA, Bill & Nancy Stillman of South Boston, Jerry & Lawson Greenwood of Wilmington, NC, Ann Brewer of Ashland,VA, and Scott & Lisa Stillman of Peachtree City, GA, along with countless nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating.
