Wesley Davis Martin, Jr.

Dr. Wesley Davis Martin, Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in August. He was 66 years old.
Davis was born in Halifax, VA to Wesley Davis Martin, Sr. and Marian Martin. After completing high school, he
obtained his Bachelor of Science degree at Ferrum College. He then received his Master of Science degree
from the University of Georgia, followed by a PhD in Entomology from Clemson University.

Davis began his career with FMC Corporation, where he traveled the world doing what he loved the most,
working in agriculture. He then went on to work for Rickard Seeds and Profigen do Brasil. He spent most of his career studying various crops in Africa, Brazil, and China. He was a member of the CORESTA Scientific
Commission, which allowed him opportunities to visit capital cities all over the world. He retired from Altria in 2016 and returned to his family farm in Halifax, VA. Davis continued assisting local farmers with field research and quality control after his retirement. Davis also followed his father’s footsteps in becoming a Master Mason.

Davis is preceded in death by his father, Wesley Davis Martin, Sr.

He is survived by:
His mother, Marian “Biddie” Martin of Halifax, VA
His sister, Bonni Martin (Keith Roark) of Halifax, VA
His son, Wesley Davis “Davy” Martin, III (Jaime Martin) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL
His daughter, DeAnne Martin (Gary Tingen) of Halifax, VA
Also survived by Toni Martin of Lynchburg, VA and a host of close friends and relatives
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
