William Allen Murphy

Obituary Notice Mr. William Allen “Bill” Murphy Mr. William Allen “Bill” Murphy of South Boston, VA passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on June 30, 1941 and was 81 years old. He was the son of the late William Edward Murphy and the late Ruby Allen Murphy and was married to Kathleen Nelson Murphy for 44 years. He was a lifelong member of Winn’s Creek Baptist Church where he was an active deacon until 2023. Mr. Murphy was retired from Davenport Energy. Mr. Murphy loved spending time exercising outside by running and riding his bicycle. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Murphy was the survivor of a double lung transplant for nine years. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community. Murphy of Virgilina, VA A host of nieces and nephews Caregivers Bruce and Helen Barksdale of South Boston, VA *Preceded in death by* Brother Charles Edward Murphy of Virgilina, VA Brother-In-Law Edward Conner Sr. of Vernon Hill, VA A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Winn’s Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. James Kopco and Rev. Barry Chambers officiating. The family will receive friends at Winn’s Creek Baptist Church one hour prior to the service and other times at his home.
