William Crews Powell, age 71, passed away on April 12, 2022 at the Durham, NC Veterans Administration Medical Center. He was born in Pulaski County, VA on February 16, 1951. He was the son of the late Addison Brasher and Ruth Crews and the step-son of the late Jean Powell. He was married to Sharon New Powell who survives. William had lots of nicknames: “Beep Beep”, Bill, Billy, “Mr. Bill” but the name he loved the most was Papa. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era (1969 – 1972). He also worked Iraq for three years later in life, He loved his country and fought for our freedom.
