On April 25, 2023, Geraldine Frances Tuck Coates of Halifax, VA passed away peacefully at her home. She was born in Halifax County to the late Claude Edgar Tuck and the late Mollie Hancock Tuck on January 22, 1934. She was married to the late Rupert Carroll Coates.
She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where she sang in the choir for many years. Geraldine also worked diligently for Mikey Lewis, Pam Gordon, Judge Brendan Dunning and Eugene Lindley in her career as a legal secretary. She also gave of her time by volunteering at the South Boston-Halifax County Museum and the Good Samaritan. Geraldine was past President of AARP and traveled with them on many trips, past President of the VALS, served on the Board of Directors of NOWS and a member of the Sportsman Club. She truly enjoyed life to its fullest. She will be missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 3:30 P.M. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with the Father Tim Jones officiating. Burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the committal.
